Coffee Table Books To Elevate Your Space

4 years ago, I shared my fave coffee table books, and I’ve long wanted to update that list with new favourites that have since been added to my collection. I still am a big believer that books are an amazing way to add a sense of identity and personality to your home. And if you’re a design lover like I am, you’ll find yourself turning to these books as a source of inspiration time and time again.

Links for the coffee table books, from left to right, top to bottom:

1. JB Blunk, Third Edition

This limited edition book showcases the work of California artist and wood sculptor J. B. Blunk, known for creating evocative sculptures from wood and other organic materials. This book is a conversation starter for sure, and not your typical design book.

2. Arranging Things

Arranging Things by stylist Colin King is a deeply inspiring read, and will challenge you to look at objects with an editorial eye.

3. Pacific Natural at Home

If you asked me which book I use as a reference most often, it would be Jenni Kayne’s latest, Pacific Natural at Home. As a west coast gal myself, I’m heavily influenced by the surrounding landscape. This book captures the essence of the pacific west coast aesthetic with an elevated, minimal twist.

4. Mid-Century Modern: High-End Furniture in Collectors’ Interiors

Beta Plus is one of my favourite publishers in the interior design space. They create stunning, high-quality books on interior design, architecture and gardens, and while their books are an investment, they’re worth the price.

5. Rural Retreats

Rural Retreats is another fave by Beta Plus publishing. The cover alone will make your space feel more luxurious and elevated.

6. Vincent Van Duysen Works 2009-2018

If emotive minimalism is your vibe, then you’ll love this book. Architect Vincent Van Duysen’s iconic style is restrained, yet impactful.

7. Soft Minimal: Norm Architects: A Sensory Approach to Architecture and Design

I’ve admired the work of Norm Architects for years, and have used their furniture line in a handful of projects. So when I heard they were producing a book encapsulating their creative process, I couldn’t wait to add this to my collection. Does not disappoint!

8. McAlpine Romantic Modernism

This book is a feast for the eyes. It’s grand, alluring, and the pages will have you romanticizing your life.

9. Resident Dog: Incredible Homes and the Dogs Who Live There

Resident dog is a fun, cheeky read if you’re as obsessed with your dog as you are your home. Not only are the homes beautiful, but they’r brought to life from the perspective of the dogs!
