With all of the affordable stores I shared in my previous post, IKEA is still my holy grail for timeless, functional pieces on a budget. But anyone who has visited the Swedish giant knows how easy it is to get lost in the megastore — and equally overwhelmed if shopping online. Today I’ve rounded up my 10 tried and true IKEA favorites that are not only stylish and well-designed, but high-quality and versatile enough to stand the test of time.
Sofas are already a tough investment decision to make. Particularly when in your twenties or renting, committing to a size and style can shoot you in the foot the next time you move. IKEA’s Soderhamn sofa gives you the freedom to configure the pieces any way you like – loveseat, sectional, corner sofa – and be able to add on to it if you do graduate to a bigger space. The legs and covers are also removable, and there are plenty of third-party companies offering legs and covers to totally transform this sofa’s look.
At $24.99 CAD this table is a monochrome minimalist’s dream. Plus, you can store away the legs still have the removable tabletop as a coffee table tray or serving dish.
I’ve used BESTA in my last apartment (mounted on the wall as a media unit), sold it when I moved, and recently repurchased it in a different size and configuration for our new place. Nothing beats it’s simplicity and versatility, and again, there are some awesome third-party companies offering even further customization.
IKEA’s take on the iconic tulip table is as ultra stylish and affordable as you’d expect it to be. I only wish they’d release side table versions of this soon!
AKA every blogger’s favorite shelf for the infinite amount of styling opportunities. It’s minimal, clean lines are perfect for transforming it into a record library, a bar, or shoe closet.
I had pinned images of this lamp for months before realizing it exists at IKEA. I love the matte black cord and hardware, (yes, again with the matte black), that make the lamp look much more expensive than it is.
The matte black rod make this rack a touch more industrial and stylish.
Is it a bar cart? A plant stand? A spice rack? Night table? Who knows, but I’m here for all of it.
I swear by the RIBBA frames for creating a cohesive gallery wall on a budget. Plus, saving on the price of frames leaves more room to splurge on unique, meaningful art.
I love this mirror for an affordable take on the infinity mirror trend. Save yourself $420 off the CB2 version, use your savings to buy a new outfit, and then admire your money-savvy reflection in your new IKEA mirror instead.
